I am Charlton Professor of Philosophy at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, where I have taught since 1990. My philosophical interests include metaphysics, ethics, philosophy of education, and Russian philosophy and psychology. Before taking up my present position at Queen’s, I worked at Oxford University and the University of California, San Diego. In the early 1980s, I studied at Moscow University and have since collaborated with colleagues at the Institute of Psychology of the Russian Academy of Pedagogical Sciences and the Institute of Philosophy. I hold a visiting professorship at the Institute of Education, London.
